Since its founding in 2005 by Bristol producer Pinch, Tectonic has remained one of the defining labels of British bass music. At a time when dubstep was still malleable, the label defined its own sound early on. While many contemporaries focused on impact and drops, Tectonic relied on depth, texture and a futuristic dub sensibility. Through releases by artists such as Skream, Loefah, 2562, Peverelist and Flying Lotus, the label became a platform that carried the genre beyond its narrow boundaries and opened up connections to techno and experimental music. This summer, to mark its 20th anniversary, Pinch released a 24-track compilation that brings together old and new dubstep trends. As part of the Tectonic 20 Years special, Appleblim and Om Unit will be joining Pinch to DJ at Berghain for Darwin's REEF night. Panorama Bar will also be hosting a spectacular showcase of state-of-the-art bass music with Roska, Tim Reaper and Copenhagen's Smokey.
