Making their Panorama Bar debut are two DJs from Japan: Mayurashka, closely linked to the Little Big crew, cultivates an aesthetic of intentional eclecticism. In her sets and productions on labels like Studio Barnhus, fragments of post-punk collide with acid structures. Her affinity for unpredictability is a testament to her upbringing in Shibuya’s record shops. Joining her is YAMA, whose approach is rooted in the Kansai region. As a pillar of the Newtone Records collective in Osaka, she maneuvers at the intersection of dub elements and percussive house. Avoiding flashy effects YAMA offers a captivating selection with a spatial depth that emphasizes rhythmic phrasing. Ben, Marcel and Kittin bring a concentrated dose of techno on the main floor, and the lineup is complemented by a live set by Portable on the Säule floor: Alan Abrahams breaks the static nature of electronic live acts with his distinctive vocals, which oscillate between melancholy and futuristic soul. This can be heard on his latest album, African Ambient Live at Funkhaus (Circus Company), where he forgoes the kick drum, focusing instead on ethereal pads and polyrhythms, guiding his music into a contemplative realm.
